Fly, Fly, Fly.

I really cannot believe it has be OVER a year since I posted on my blog. It does not seem like that long ago, time really does fly! Well, In the mean time, a lot has happened! My roommate Tyese was married to one of my greatest friends Steven Blackhurst on October 21st 2010. They are an adorable couple, their reception was very elegant and beautiful and Tyese was as GORGEOUS as ever.
Living in Salt Lake City was wonderful. I loved being so close to relatives that I originally had only seen once a year. I was working as a stylist at Great Clips and a very quaint little salon in the area. Both locations were very close to home, very convenient.

Allison, Tyese, and I became very good friends. We did everything together! The best roommates I had ever had, friendships that will last a life time. We took a liking to a restaurant nearby by the name of Hoppers, to which we were frequent diners.
On my last night in Utah Tyese, Jessica, Allison, and I met at hoppers and enjoyed each others company, laughing the night away!

The LDS ward I was involved in was a very LARGE but very well organized University singles ward. That is where I started my paperwork to serve an LDS mission. Shortly after that I returned home to California and have been here just over a month!
Tonight is Christmas Eve and everyone in my house is anxious to see what we will be greeted by in the morning. Dad has been asking for it to be Christmas for a couple days now. He knows what's coming and is anxious to see what SANTA will bring!
I hope your Christmas Eve is as thrilling as mine is becoming!

Bathroom reading

So I have been living in my new place for about a week now. I love my roommates and my house is AWESOME!
On the bathroom closet there is a quote by President Monson that reads:
"Out of the darkness and horror of Calvary came the voice of the Lamb saying "Father into Thy hands I commend my spirit." And the dark was no longer dark, for he was with his father. He had come from God, and to Him He had returned. So also those who walk with God in this earthly pilgrimage know from blessed experience that He will not abandon His children who trust in Him. In the night of death, His presence will be "better than a light and safer than a known way."
-President Monson
And then below that it had a few different sayings, such as:
"You're Loved!"
"Stay Strong!"
"Be happy"
I feel so blessed that I found this house so quickly. With all the things happening in my life right now I know that this is where I am supposed to be.
Work is going well, it's a little slow but I am sure it will pick up. I have very high hopes for this week. =)
I will post pictures of my house sooner or later, I have taken some, I just need to find my cord. =)

Dad

My dad is the greatest person I know. I love his laughs, his loud and obnoxious burps at the dinner table. How everytime I call him he answers the phone "Hey nelly". How he attempts to dance to the oldies music that is playing in his awesome stereo system.

His Creative cooking, and how he never uses a recipe but it always seems to turn out perfect. How he is obsessed with his yard and everything in it. How he always knows the right words to say. When he tires to sing along with the Beejee's even though he cant sing that high, but he still tries. How he gets so excited about house projects, and wont let anyone but himself paint because it has to be perfect.

How he never actaully smiles in a picture but always makes a weird face. But most of all, because he is the best dad in the world.

Dad, i love you and even though sometimes we get mad at each other, we will always be best friends. Love, you favorite daughter.

I LOVE YOU DAD! Happy fathers DAY!

YAY!

They say, when it rains it pours. But there is ALWAYS a sunny day ahead.
I have come to realize my attitude is up to ME. Not anyone else. I can choose to be happy, grouchy, mean, or down.
But I have come to find out that most of my happiness and joy comes from when I chose to be happy. It is MY choice.
Weight watchers has been a HUGE success so far. I have lost 10 pounds. I switched my school schedule to mornings. i dont know why I didnt do this like, a year ago. It's so much easier, and actually feels like school. and the best part, I have a REASON to go. mostly because there is nothing else to do. I could sleep, but who needs that?
Haha.
I leave for Florida in 6 days. and am SO nervous. and tired and stressed and ugh. I dont know where to start.. but it will be fine, this will all work out =)

food

I started weight watchers on monday and have been doing very well! it's fun shopping for low point food.
my goal is 70 pounds by this time next year.
if I hit the goal sooner.. GREAT! but I am giving myself a full year to loose the weight.
The lunch I fixed for my self today was AMAZING, and very filling.
Chicken and spinach salad
1 small chicken breast, grilled or baked.
1 cup of fresh baby spinach.
1/4 cup green peas, steamed or boiled
1/4 cup carrots, cold or steamed
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 broccoli, steamed or cold
1/4 cup grilled onions
1/4 fresh mango

combine all ingredients in one bowl and ENJOY!

It is very very good. and best of all... only 3 points, and its a BIG bowl.
if you have any other neat recipes for weightwatchers.. let me know!

on other notes:
I leave for flordia in 3 weeks and am excited and nervous beyond all reason.
I LOVE my roommates. I am so happy and very blessed to have them in my life. We get along really well and just enjoy each others company.
I am going to take pictures of my competiton manaquin and show y'all.
have a wonderful week!
